Advancing Steps

Advancing Steps mission is "to help change the lives of formerly incarcerated people by providing evidenced-based supportive services, while focusing on education/vocational training as a path to living-wage careers".

Advancing Steps is a full-service resource center, that serves anyone who has served time in a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facility with Reentry services. Our services include intensive case management, career counseling, mental health referrals, addictions referrals, workforce development, job placement, interviewing classes, public speaking, I.D. revivals, family reunification, transportation, college application support, FAFSA support, and other services as they arise. Our goal is to help transform the formerly incarcerated into respected citizens in our communities. Our staff works in an understanding, caring, empathic, and loving manner as we engage with our clients. We as an organization believe nothing is impossible and motivate our clients to reach high.
Our impact is enrolling several clines into The College of the Desert and Project Rebound at Cal State University, San Bernardino. We have also placed five clients into either the Electrical Union and the Carpenters Union and they are working well above minimum wage. As our organization just got funded with a large grant we look forward to assisting others with our services.

Advancing Steps has a great success story, Lets call this person Mr. Smith, Mr. Smith didn't graduate High School and we help him get his high school transcript and enrolled him in Palm Springs adult school. Mr. Smith finished his adult school and received his high school diploma; he is now employed at Amazon and enrolled in College of the Desert and pursuing his degree in Musical engineering. This gentleman is so excited for his future and now volunteers at Advancing Steps and now works with his community.
