Rescue + Residence

A nonprofit organization

Rescue + Residence believes that veterans provide a unique, powerful resource to a community and losing one to homelessness is a tragedy. To restore dignity to these veterans and resurrect their ability to contribute to our community, Rescue + Residence runs a holistic, 3-phase program that covers self-recovery, job skills training, and ends with the veteran designing and building a custom home in the back of a retired ambulance.

We are a holistic program that finds Coachella Valley veterans experiencing homelessness with the desire and drive to complete our program and move forward toward a new, full life.
We provide veterans experiencing homelessness across Coachella Valley with safe and practical individual living quarters with a mailing address on day one.
We help the overburdened Veteran's Affairs offices with homeless outreach.
We help our participants attend meetings and training at support locations throughout Coachella Valley, mostly with Eisenhower Medical Facilities.
We coordinate with Best Friend's Closet, Find Food Bank, The Narrow Door, and others to provide on-site access to food and clothing options.
A critical program is our partnership with Coachella Valley businesses to provide job skills training (carpenter, electrician, plumber, etc.) and to help our program participants locate and apply for a future job anywhere in the country. For example, Coachella Valley Coffee Company has agreed to provide job skills training on coffee machine repairs to our program participants.
Our core program involves working with the veteran participant to design and build a high-quality home inside a retired ambulance that will take them on to a new job and a new fresh start.

Testimonials
