At Seiden-Juku, we are building leaders in inclusion and diversity through the art of Karate-Do. Our organization specializes in empowering individuals with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, visual impairments, mobility challenges, and wheelchair athletes. We also serve children who are survivors of sexual abuse, youth in foster care, and those impacted by bullying and difficult home environments.

Our mission extends beyond physical training — we transform lives. Many of the families we serve are navigating disabilities of their own, including autism and Down syndrome. Seiden-Juku provides not only martial arts instruction, but community, belonging, healing, and hope.

In 2025, Sensei Tamara Canedo was appointed Para-Karate Coach for Team USA through USA Karate under the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. This national appointment elevated both our athletes and the Coachella Valley onto a larger competitive platform.

Sensei Tamara and her team now travel across the country with their athletes, competing in national tournaments with the goal of earning placement on Team USA. Our athletes have the talent, discipline, and heart to compete at the highest level — however, financial barriers remain a significant challenge. Training, uniforms, travel, lodging, meals, transportation, and competition fees create obstacles for families already navigating extraordinary circumstances.

Seiden-Juku has partnered with numerous organizations throughout the desert communities to expand access to inclusive martial arts. We proudly teach athletes as young as two years old with autism, as well as adults into their 70s who are blind or mobility-impaired.

Our team of Senseis builds far more than champions — we build confidence, resilience, respect, love, healing, and grit. There is rarely a dry eye in the dojo when an athlete reaches a milestone once thought impossible. Our non-verbal athletes find their voice through a powerful kiai. Athletes with cerebral palsy gain strength and mobility. Blind students develop heightened awareness and balance.

At Seiden-Juku, our athletes become champions not only on the tatami — but in life.

The Power of Giving

None of this impact is possible without the generosity of those who believe in inclusion.

When you give to Seiden-Juku, you are not simply funding a karate class — you are funding transformation. You are helping a child who has been told “no” hear “yes.” You are helping a parent who feels alone find community. You are helping an athlete with disabilities stand on a national stage with dignity and pride.

Your support provides:
• Specialized adaptive training
• Competition registration and travel
• Uniforms and protective equipment
• Hotel accommodations and meals for athletes and caregivers
• Private training sessions needed to reach elite competitive levels

For many of our families, these opportunities would simply not exist without sponsorship and community support.

Giving is not charity — it is partnership. It is a declaration that every individual, regardless of ability or background, deserves access to excellence, competition, and belonging.

Together, we are not just creating athletes.
We are creating leaders.
We are creating inclusion.
We are creating history.
