DO THE RIGHT THING - Greater Palm Springs

A nonprofit organization

Our Mission • Recognizing and rewarding school-age youths in the Greater Palm Springs area for their positive attitude, behavior, and accomplishments. • To build self-esteem in youngsters by reinforcing socially-desirable behavior, to demonstrate that good kids are newsworthy and establish them as role models for their peers, and to foster positive relationships between young people and their local law enforcement officers.

DO THE RIGHT THING - Greater Palm Springs Chapter accepts up to 350 nominations each month from teachers, parents, police officers, and other adults in the community for school-age children valley-wide in recognition of their good deeds or positive behavior. All nominees receive a DTRT t-shirt, certificate of recognition, and letter of congratulations from PSPD Chief Andrew Mills. Each month five nominees are selected for special recognition at an award ceremony at the PSPD and receive a plaque and prizes valued at more than $400.

DO THE RIGHT THING also sponsors the PSPD's annual "Shop With a Cop" event, as well as offers financial assistance to school-age youth and scholarships to graduating seniors from the Palm Springs Unified School District through its "Scholarship/Financial Assistance" program.
