GRTCCV has mounted award-winning projects at a myriad of venues, including large youth musicals at the Indian Wells Theatre, Shakespeare and provocative contemporary plays for adult audiences at Barnes & Noble Palm Desert, The Coachella Valley Public Cemetery, Riverside County libraries, and the La Quinta Brewing Company. An African-American adaptation of "Gift of the Magi" toured a series of historically Black churches in Indio and Palm Springs. Green Room's 2022-23 season started with An Evening of LBGT Women in Desert Theatre and produced a valley-wide touring production of Gary Soto's award-winning, bilingual play, "Novio Boy".
In 2025, the company will offer a touring production of Luis Alfaro's "Black Butterfly, Jaguar Girl, Pinata Woman and Other Superhero Girls, Like Me" and bilingual staged readings of Shakespeare's "As You Like It in One Hour/Como Te Gusta en Una Hora". Green Room's education program has continued to expand with after-school ballet folklorico and theatre classes at several schools across the East Valley. Last year, the company expanded our ballet folklorico program, offering a community class in Thermal in partnership with Desert Recreation District.
"Our students that participated in Ballet Folklorico developed a growth mindset due to the consistent encouragement to do well, feeling fabulous about their heritage, and allowing students to express their individuality. Many parents shared their gratitude to Ballet Folklorico for motivating their children to learn new dance steps, for modeling traditions, and for a culminating activity that filled their hearts. Our students gained an experience they will never forget and cherish throughout their life. We look forward to working with Green Room Theatre and impacting the lives of many children in our school." - Daniel Martinez, Ed.D. Principal, Roosevelt Elementary School
"I was introduced to GRTC many years ago and was most impressed by their providing students a means to experience a production from the onset to final performance. In addition, eager students were enriched by having the opportunity to hear from professional actors who shared their individual theatrical journeys. GRTC are leaders in our community in bringing charities together to better the lives of our children in the Valley." - Patti Gribow, Television and Film Producer/Entertainer/Host/Actress
"I have seen the excellent work of GRTC through some years of their support and interaction with Ophelia Project, a mentoring program for girls I created, serving 19 schools throughout this valley. It has always been my strong belief that the arts play a vital role in education and the positive development of our youth. GRTC provided many opportunities for the youth I have served through the past 18 years." - Susan Francis, Past President and Chief Executive Officer
