CV Giving Day 2027 FAQs

Question 1

What is CV Giving Day?

Accepted Answer

Coachella Valley's original 24-hour giving event—a single day when generosity lights up all nine cities across the valley. It's a powerful online movement that unites hundreds of nonprofits, thousands of donors, and countless good vibes to raise funds, awareness, and community spirit. Since launching in 2023, CV Giving Day has raised over $3 million for Coachella Valley nonprofits!

Question 2

When is CV Giving Day 2027?

Accepted Answer

Save the date: Tuesday, March 2, 2027 (12:00 AM – 11:59 PM PT). Early Giving opens Tuesday, February 2, 2027, giving donors a full month to make their gifts count. Nonprofit registration opens Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

Question 3

Who created CV Giving Day?

Accepted Answer

CV Giving Day was created by the Desert Community Foundation in partnership with California Bank & Trust (formerly FirstBank) — inspired by the long-running and hugely successful Colorado Gives Day. The Desert Community Foundation proudly serves Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Thousand Palms, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Bermuda Dunes, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, Thermal, Mecca, Oasis, and North Shore.

Question 4

Where is CV Giving Day located?

Accepted Answer

Everywhere the internet reaches! CV Giving Day is a virtual, valley-wide event hosted at www.cvgivingday.org, connecting generous hearts from Palm Springs to Coachella and every community in between.

Question 5

Do the organizers make any money from fees or donations?

Accepted Answer

Nope — not a penny. Desert Community Foundation covers all operating costs and platform fees, and our sponsors fund every prize. The only fees come from Mightycause, our trusted giving platform, for credit-card and transaction processing. Neither Desert Community Foundation nor California Bank & Trust earn any revenue from donations — every dollar you give goes to the nonprofits you choose.

Question 6

Who is Mightycause?

Accepted Answer

We're thrilled to partner with Mightycause, a leading online platform that helps donors and nonprofits connect easily and securely. Each participating nonprofit has its own page on the CV Giving Day site to tell its story, receive gifts, and celebrate donors. Once registered, their page remains active year-round—no need to rebuild it every year.

Question 7

How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

Accepted Answer

You decide! At checkout, you'll be asked if you'd like to cover the small card-processing fee (6.0% + $0.30 per gift). In 2026, more than 88% of donors chose to cover it, meaning their nonprofit received 100% of their intended gift. All donations are final and tax deductible to the extent allowed by current IRS law. Gifts are processed through Desert Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your receipt arrives by email from Mightycause (support@mightycause.com).

Question 8

What forms of payment are accepted?

Accepted Answer

Online gifts can be made via credit card or debit card. All transactions are encrypted and secure.

Question 9

When will nonprofits receive their funds?

Accepted Answer

Desert Community Foundation processes disbursement approximately four weeks after the event, reflecting all donations minus processing fees.

Question 10

How can my nonprofit participate in CV Giving Day?

Accepted Answer

Check the Nonprofit Registration page to review eligibility. First-time participants can apply as new organizations through the Nonprofit Login. If approved, you'll receive a confirmation email inviting you to complete registration. Registration opens November 3, 2026, and all eligibility steps must be completed by February 23, 2027.
