Sponsor FAQ

Sponsor dollars fund the CV Giving Day prize pool. Open positions and the current roster are on Sponsors. The longer brief lives at cvgiving.org/sponsors.

What does a sponsorship fund?
Prize money. Sponsor contributions become the CV Giving Day prize pool, awarded directly to participating Coachella Valley nonprofits. At least $100,000 goes out in prizes in 2027.

Where does the money actually go?
To the nonprofits. Desert Community Foundation covers platform and operating costs for CV Giving Day, so 100% of sponsor prize dollars reach participating organizations. In 2026, 28 prizes totaling $100,000 were awarded.

How are prizes awarded?
By random draw among eligible organizations, not by leaderboard position. In 2026 every one of the 28 prizes was drawn at random. A nonprofit with forty donors had the same odds as one with four hundred. 2027 prize rules will be posted before early giving opens on February 2.

How is sponsoring different from giving to one nonprofit?
A gift to one organization helps that organization. A sponsorship funds prizes that give every registered nonprofit a reason to take part. That is what pulls the Valley onto the same calendar.

Is this the same as Impact Partners?
Yes. That was the earlier name on this site. The page is now Sponsors. Is a sponsorship tax-deductible?
Contributions are made through Desert Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) community foundation (EIN 95-4725924), and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Confirm treatment with your own tax adviser.

Do we pay Mightycause?
No. Write the sponsorship to Desert Community Foundation. Mightycause is the giving platform. DCF covers those costs so prize dollars are not used to run the site.Is any sponsorship level limited?
Only Diamond. The $100,000 Diamond Sponsorship has one slot, and the 2027 prize pool carries that sponsor’s name. Platinum ($50,000), Gold ($25,000), and Silver ($10,000) can be held by more than one organization.

Who is already in for 2027?
Desert Community Foundation (Founder), California Bank & Trust (Founding Sponsor, $50,000), RAP Foundation / NPO Centric (Platinum, $50,000), KESQ (Media), and Acrisure Arena (In-kind). See Sponsors.

How does a sponsor get recognized?

  • Logo across the campaign: The Altruist, donor and nonprofit emails, printed materials, and the Acrisure Arena kickoff
  • A lasting sponsor profile on cvgiving.org
  • $25,000 and above: recognition at the Acrisure Arena kickoff

Can we direct our prize dollars?

Yes. Sponsors can direct prize dollars to the nonprofits and causes they choose.

Can we design our own prize challenge?

Yes. Custom challenges can be built around a cause area, a match, or a milestone. In 2026 the Large Donation Match rewarded any organization that raised at least $1,000 from ten or more unique donors during early giving.

Can we sponsor with media or in-kind instead of cash?

Yes. KESQ and Acrisure Arena already do. In-kind does not replace prize-pool dollars; it supports the campaign around the pool.

When are prizes paid?

After CV Giving Day closes, Desert Community Foundation verifies results and distributes prize funds to winning organizations. Donor gifts to nonprofits follow the campaign disbursement schedule.

When do you need a commitment?

Earlier is better. Nonprofit registration opens November 3, 2026. Early giving begins February 2, 2027. CV Giving Day is March 2, 2027. A sponsor confirmed in November is recognized for the whole cycle, not only the final week.
