As a young girl, I was very shy, introverted & always felt like I didn't fit anywhere. I struggled to make & keep friends. After 3 years of birthday parties that were poorly attended or ended in tears, a Girl Scout who is still one of my best friends invited me to a Girl Scout meeting.
In Girl Scouts, I found a place I fit. I found friends, a home, and a purpose. With the guidance of amazing leaders, I learned leadership, community responsibility, and how to express myself. I believe my strong sense of ethics was instilled partly by my Girl Scout experience and led in part to receiving my Law Degree.
I continued in Girl Scouting through my Junior Year of High School and returned later as a Brownie leader. As a leader, I had the opportunity to pass on to a new group of girls the things I had learned years before. Now, as I come home to Girl Scouts as the Director of Development at GSSGC, I embrace the chance to impact current & future generations of girls like me who just need a place to fit.
