How do we register?
Registration opens Tuesday, November 3, 2026 and closes Tuesday, February 23, 2027, a week before the day so every application can be reviewed. Go to the registration page and follow the steps. Registration is hosted on Mightycause, our giving platform.
If you took part in 2026, use the same email address and account — your organization's details will already be there.
Who is eligible?
Your organization must be a 501(c)(3) public charity recognized by the IRS, and must provide services or programs within the Coachella Valley. Full eligibility details, including how religious organizations qualify, are on the registration page.
What does registration get us?
A giving page for your organization, open to donors from early giving through the day
Peer-to-peer fundraising, so your supporters can raise on your behalf
Eligibility for at least $100,000 in prize funding
A valley-wide campaign behind you — media, email and advertising driving donors to the day
Registering also lists your organization on cvgiving.org, the Coachella Valley nonprofit directory, for the full year. That is a separate site from this one, and it stays up between giving day campaigns.
What is in the Nonprofit Toolkit?
Ready-to-use social graphics and banners, sample emails and press templates, peer-to-peer fundraising guides, and campaign planning checklists. Use them, change them, make them yours.
How do prizes work?
In 2026, 28 prizes totaling $100,000 were awarded, and every one was drawn at random among eligible organizations rather than by leaderboard position. An organization with forty donors had the same odds as one with four hundred.
To be eligible for prize money you must also follow CV Giving Day on social media and be an active member in good standing of our online community.
Do we have to do peer-to-peer fundraising?
No, but it is worth it. Peer-to-peer lets your board, volunteers and supporters raise through their own networks, and it is one of the best ways to reach donors who have never heard of you.
When does early giving start?
Tuesday, February 2, 2027. It is your warm-up window before the day — post, email, and ask supporters to give early. Momentum builds fast.
The CV Giving Day kickoff is the next evening, Wednesday, February 3, 2027 — Community Night at Acrisure Arena. Details to be announced.
How are prizes verified and paid?
After CV Giving Day ends, Desert Community Foundation verifies every prize category. Winners are announced on this site and on our social channels, and you will receive an email with your results and next steps.
When do we receive the funds we raised?
Desert Community Foundation processes disbursement approximately four weeks after the event.
How do we encourage donors to cover fees?
At checkout, donors can choose to cover the processing fee. It is worth mentioning in your thank-you messages and posts — covering the fee means 100% of the gift reaches your mission, and donors like knowing that.
